TRAVEL RESOURCES

 Airport

Those arriving by air will utilize Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (IATA Code: SEA; also referred to as “SeaTac”), the busiest airport in the Pacific Northwest and ninth busiest airport in the United States. The airport is currently served by 31 airlines who fly to 91 domestic and 28 international destinations.

Getting to Tacoma

The most convenient way to transfer from SeaTac to Tacoma is by using a taxi or rideshare company such as Uber and Lyft. Taxis and rideshare cars can be found on the third floor of the airport parking garage (look for directional signage in the airport). Private car services like Shuttle Express can also be reserved for one-way or round-trip transfers. Those on a budget may wish to consider bus transportation, and Line 574 bus operated by Sound Transit costs just a few dollars, although it drops off at Tacoma Dome Station, which requires a second transfer by light rail or bus to the Convention Center and conference hotels.

Getting Around Tacoma

Tacoma's Link Light Rail runs frequently throughout the downtown corridor with a stop located just outside the Convention Center on Commerce Street. Link trains run every 8–15 minutes, depending on the time of day, from 5:00 am until 1:00 am Monday through Saturday and 6:00 am until midnight on Sunday and holidays. Fares are just $2/adult or $1/senior. Youth (18 and under) ride for free. Complete information can be found at soundtransit.org.

Two bus systems, Sound Transit and Pierce Transit, service Pierce County. The Sound Transit bus routes travel through Bonney Lake, DuPont, Gig Harbor, Lakewood, Puyallup, SeaTac, Sumner, Tacoma, and University Place. The Sounder train runs between Lakewood and Seattle, stopping in Puyallup, Tacoma, Sumner, and other cities during weekday morning and afternoon commutes and for special weekend events. Pierce Transit provides local bus routes, SHUTTLE paratransit, and vanpool.
