The Washington Traffic Safety Commission and Washington State Department of Transportation is pleased to announce its Call for Presentations for the Washington Traffic Safety Summit at the Spokane Convention Center July 15-17, 2025.
Traffic Safety Summit Purpose and Audience
The overall goal of the Washington Traffic Safety Summit is to advance the Safe System Approach in Washington State.
Important Dates
February 28, 2025 – Presentation proposals DUE
March 31, 2025 – Submitters will be notified about proposal selections
May 15, 2025 – Presenters will be notified of the presenter schedule
July 15-17, 2025 – Washington Traffic Safety Summit, Spokane Convention Center

Session Tracks
We are seeking presentation proposals for the following topical tracks.
Track 1- Funding and Partnerships: Aligning Resources for Systemic Safety
This track highlights strategies for aligning funding and partnerships including diverse funding strategies, prioritization approaches, and the importance of collaboration and partnership building to improve planning in the Safe System context.
Track 2 – Infrastructure and Engineering: Designing Safe and Forgiving Roadways
This track focuses on the critical role of roadway design in promoting safety for all users, emphasizing the principles of Safe System design.
Track 3 – Human Behavior and Enforcement: Supporting Safe Road Use
This track examines human behavior as a critical element of the Safe System Approach, exploring strategies to encourage safe choices, address unsafe actions, and to create a transportation system that corrects and accommodates human mistakes without deadly consequences.
Track 4 – Data and Technology: Data-Driven System Safety
This track explores the role of traffic records data and technology to inform decisions, monitor system performance, and drive continuous safety improvements within a Safe System that proactively identifies and mitigates risk.
Track 5 – Community Engagement and Education: Building a Culture of Shared Safety
This track emphasizes the importance of culturally relevant engagement, outreach, and education with communities to foster a shared responsibility for traffic safety and build a strong, proactive traffic safety culture.
Track 6 – Policy and Legislation: Polices for a Safe System Future
This track delves into the role of policy and legislation in advancing the Safe System Approach like community advocacy for safer streets, legal issues related to new transportation technologies, and land use planning.
Track 7 – Accessibility and Safety: Building a Comprehensive and Effective Transportation System
This track focuses on the importance of building a transportation system that is accessible and meets the needs of all users, while addressing risks, past fuding shortfalls, and ensuring the system worksfor all communities.
